Synopsis : This is an introduction course to horticulture and nursery. The course is aimed at acquiring basic knowledge and understanding of this field on plant environmental concepts through learning of plants: introduction, classification, plant propagation, and soil characteristics for growth. This course will also incorporates an introduction to nursery to provide field work experiences to students in learning skills and implementation of horticultural works such as soil mixture, planting, pruning, staking, watering, pest control and soil management. Objectives: i. The students will understand basic plant science on plant growth, production and maintenance in the field of landscape architecture. ii. Students will acquire an understanding on the different types of nurseries and landscape nursery framework. iii. The students will be able to identify basic types of soil and their suitability for planting.
